New Beginnings

Kiera and Robee both started new daycare at the end of August. Kiera was accepted into a full-day learning pilot project between my school and the daycare there, so she was no longer going to be at Brenda's. Fortunately they also had a spot in the daycare for Robee, so they both made the move to 'mommy's school'. I have to say a big thank you to Brenda for the years of care she gave Kiera and Robee, and wish her luck in her new career. As for Kiera and Robee, they had a great first day and continue to do well. It's kinda nice making one stop in the morning and knowing that they're just down the hall.

Robee's first fishing trip Part 1

Despite the closed eyes, Kiera does enjoy her boat rides. Especially when going fast.
Robee preferred to be a bit protected by the windshield.

Of course we couldn't leave Lovely home. She loves to be involved with whatever we're doing.

Robee was convinced that he was driving the boat, and that if he pushed the lock button on the clovebox, the horn would go. He soon realized it had something to do with Grandpa, so that was why he's looking over at Grandpa before he pushed the 'button'.

Jason tried to get Kiera to pet the fish, but she wouldn't get that close. She was happy just throwing the line in and reeling it up.

Robee's first fishing trip Part 2

Robee and Grandpa decided this was the good side of the boat to catch lots of fish.
Dora fishing rod or not, Robee had success and did catch several fish. He even gave one a kiss!

Three generations of Moody men.

Kiera and Robee ended up catching lots of fish and had fun too.

The best part of the fishing trip comes when we get back to the dock. Well, maybe not so much fun for the fish that don't swim quickly, but fun for the dogs.

Just some pics

Kiera decided to try out her new nail polish that she got from cousin Jeff and Ramona. One foot was hot pink and the other purple. Since she did it herself, a few of the actual toes were pink too. A note to parents; check that you have nail polish remover before allowing children to apply nail polish!
What 2 year old wouldn't love his own sandpit, eh?! Robee loves to just run his big yellow dump truck from one end to the other.
Kiera loved Grandpa's new toy - an infrared sauna. She would just go in and sit beside him while he read the instructions before he turned it on. She liked the lights, and just simply being with Grandpa (and Pele of course who is never far from Grandpa either).

Friends and Family Part 2

Kiera always looks forward to seeing her friend Elly when at the cottage, and for two weeks every summer she also gets to play with Caroline when she comes to Canada to visit her family. It's so nice for Jason and I too, because the girls do a great job of keeping the kids occupied so we get some time to socialize too.
Robee got a birthday surprise - he got to celebrate with 'Uncle' Robbie who also was having a birthday that weekend. The cake said Happy Birthday Big Robbie and Little Robee. Thanks Carol.

Kiera was in a dancing mood, and decided poor Angus was going to be her Prince Charming. Thanks for being such a great sport Angus. Who knows, maybe in the futre this picture will mean more?!

Time with Friends and Family

Kiera and Jason went out in the boat to watch Bill and I in the annual sailboat race (that's us in the background). We could hear Kiera cheering us on, and could see her smile across the lake. Jason said she loved having her snack in the boat. Thanks to cousin Erin and Kolin for watching Robee.

One of the kid's favourite things to do is go for a ride in Grandpa's red wagon. Thankfully it also is a great way to put Robee to sleep for his afternoon naps!

Jason and Robee enjoying some playtime with Grandpa's new sand table. Although cousins Jeff and Jessica had a horrible accident delivering it to us, thankfully they were okay after a few weeks of recovery. Kiera was just enjoying a little picnic on the chaise while taking in the beautiful view of the lake.

Cousin Erin and Kolin treated Kiera and Robee to their first marshmallow roast. Kiera and Robee looked forward to it all day. Poor Robee only managed to barely stay awake for one or two marshmallows.

Cottage Life

Enjoying one of the few nice boating days this summer with the family. Even Lovely got a chance to check out the other cottages on the lake. Kiera had a lot of fun trying out the mask and snorkel set that Grandma had bought her for Christmas 2 years ago. Kiera especially liked talking to everyone through the snorkel. She's part fish, that girl - no matter how cold it was, she swam every day whenever we were there.
Jason and Jenn Wignall won Dave Salmon and Marg Dollar's 25th Annual Badmonton Tournament. It was another good day followed by a BBQ.
The Norton's decided to bring their own dock to the tournament this year. Yes, that is a motor on the back.

Robee taking a break from swimming to play with a truck he borrowed from his buddy Josh DeGazio. He's just too cute, isn't he?!

"A big scoop, Grandpa!"

Grandpa helped Kiera and Robee to test out their new ice cream cone holders from Aunt B. As you can see, they worked perfectly!

Our Quiet Place in the Woods

Here is Lovely sitting on a rock in our 'quiet place' that we made up in the woods by the wood pile. We cleared out a few little trees and have some nice big flat rocks to sit on in the shade. Kiera and Robee just like that they can wander around this little area on their own and look at some cool fungi and all the different little bugs.

Happy 2nd Birthday Robee

Okay, I'm still trying to figure out this whole Blog thing, so the pictures from Robee's birthday are out of order.
We started with Chinese food with Nana and Poppa, then the Lightning McQueen cake for dessert. Robee had said he wanted a "kechow" cake and chose the Cars napkins and plates, so it was up to Jason and I to think of a cake. Thankfully, we found this easy track design in a book mom had given me for Christmas last year.
We had given Robee a wooden train track for Christmas, and when we saw the battery powered engines at our friend's the DeGazio's, we knew what Robee was getting for his birthday. He loves Thomas and Percy, but for some reason he prefers to hold Thomas while Percy does all the work on the track!
